2008/82 Planning
1.Erection of a side ext. and garden room following demolition of existing
garage, 83 Westfield Lane, South Milford. No comments
2.Conversion of part of garage to gym 4 The Lime, South Milford. No Comments
3.Two Storey ext. to the side 20 Beech Drive, South Milford – No comment
4.Erection of a sports pavilion with changing rooms and creation of a sports
playing and pitch associated parking Sports ground, Mill Lane, South Milford.
The PC gives their unanimous support for this planning application. The PC do
have to declare an interest, the PC made the payment for the planning application
and one of the PC Councillors is on the trustee’s of Swan Croft and took no
part in the Parish Council’s discussion.
5.Application for consent to reduce the crown and trim copper beech tree T2282
of group G1 of TPO 10/2002 3 The Limes, South Milford. The PC is ok with this
if professional advice is given.
6.Erection of a pitched roof over garage to create continuous roof line to dwelling
and conservatory to the rear 74 Sand Lane, South Milford. No comments

2008/83 MINUTES
The minutes of the Ordinary Meeting of the Parish Council held on 18th November 2008 had been circulated along with the Notice of Meeting. Proposed Cllr Watson seconded Cllr Hobman – all agreed.
2008/ 84 Matters arising from previous meeting
a) A1 site/A63 detrunking
Cllr Homan wrote to the HA – no reply received as yet. A site visit and meeting
needs to be organised with all involved.
A reply was received from Richard Flinton of NYCC in response to our letter
about the A63 detrucking. Saying that no accidents or personal injury had been
reported on this road. There statistic do not tally with ours. Cllr Hobman to
check details and formula a response and set up a meeting. Cllr Hobman to e-mail
a copy of NYCC letter from Richard Flinton to all Cllr’s for any comments.
b) Core Strategy Consultation
A meeting was held on the 3rd December to discuss and complete the returns form for the above.
Cllr Hobman introduced and welcomed Kevin Ward from NYCC 4 Youths Selby Area, Team Leader Selby District. Re. South Milford Youth Club.
Mr Ward explained that he managed the provisions of 39 Youth projects had 44 staff some who work from 2 hours to 18 hours per week depending on workload. South Milford’s Wednesday Youth Club is run by Volunteers and Julie Sadler from NYCC. They are asking the PC if they can contribute towards the cost of the staff for South Milford. At the moment they have 40 young people listed with attendance by between 25 to 30 each week. The PC would welcome a spending proposal from NYCC for April 2009 – March 2010. The Pc pointed Mr Ward in the direction of Gary Limbert and the CIP’s group who offer funding. The PC would like to meet the volunteers from the Youth Club. Clerk to contact them and invite along to the next meeting.

Cllr Hobman attended the meeting organised by John Grogan MP at Selby. This
was attended by NYCC, EA, YW and the flood group from South Milford. All data
received. The people attending this meeting from the EA could not make decision
so John Grogan MP asked the EA to organise a further meeting. No date yet received.
Decision need to be made about rectifying the problem areas and funding for
the same.

Cllr John Mackman informed the PC of various issues.
Eco Town - After attending a Leeds City Council meeting he can confirm that
there will be no Eco Town in the Leeds City Region. There will be development
in other areas but none in the Selby District.
Flag Pole – If you fly a flag of country or EU for 365 days of the year – no
planning needed. Should the flag be removed then you need planning permission.
A flag pole with planning permission that displays a flag that is not a country
or the EU flag would need advertisement consent. There he suggests that the
appropriate course of action would be to apply for planning permission in cause
any country flag needs to be removed for whatever reason so that the pole itself
is authorised.
Sherburn Renaissance – A £1.4 million facelift for the centre of Sherburn
in Elmet has been given the green light at a meeting of SDC’s planning committee.
The scheme forms part of the district-wide Renaissance project and will include
a brand new clock tower and market square for the village.
A63 quarry site – opposite the A1. SDC arranged a site visit and passed to County.
Cllr’s John and Carol Mackman left the meeting.

2008/87 Correspondence
1.SDC – New Bin Liners- It has been brought to the attention of SDC that we
need 2 new bin liners in bins on High Street Play Area and Low Street, near
bus stop. The price of new liners is either £43.73 (round liner) or £68.61
(square liner) inclusive of VAT. Proposed Cllr Jackson seconded Cllr Plummer
to contribute 50% to replace these. Clerk to inform SDC.
2.CE Electric UK – leaflets “preparing for Mother Nature” – left at Shop and
Post office.
3.Gladson – latest products for local councils – passed to SMPFA

10.Edward French – Following a suggestion by a village resident, the VP are
intending to erect a flag pole at the entrance of the village. Do they need
planning permission? After discussion the PC agreed that it was not minded to
erect a flagpole in this location due to the cost of ongoing maintenance and
security. Clerk to e-mail Edward French.
11.Edward French – List of seats and bins in the village. Trees they are intending
to plant. After discussion the PC agreed that they would only support self sustainable
projects around the village and these would have to be approved by the Parish
Council first. Clerk to inform Edward French.
12.SDC – The number of band D equivalent properties for our Parish is 863. –
Precept due 27th April and 28th Sept 09.
