SPEED BUMPS update January 2008
We are sorry to inform you that we have got absolutely nowhere with the campaign to replace the speed bumps with something more appropriate along Low Street/Milford Road.
Due to a full Agenda we were not given sufficient time to make adequate representation at the Selby Area Committee in November and were not allowed to question Highways or our County Councillor on their reports. We had hoped that the Selby Area Committee would insist that Highways come and talk to us about Low Street.
Cllr Snowball stated that he didn't consider there to be a problem as he had only received 3 letters. We were very surprised at this remark.
An Experimental Traffic Regulation order will be put into effect late January/early February which will stop ANY wagons over 7.5 t coming through the village at specified times. They will be re-routed through Sherburn. This is the out of court settlement agreed between Mr John Brown and NYCC. This may help some of the noise problems on Low Street and was one of the reasons for the Selby Area Committee's lack of support for our campaign.
We are discussing with our Parish Council on where we can go from here.
