Memorial Plaque 2008
SOLDIERS who died in the Second World War conflict were
remembered on November 9th last year when a new South Milford Playing
Fields memorial plaque was unveiled. (see photograph below)

The granite plaque replaces its limestonepredecessor whose inscription
had become unreadable due to wear from the elements. It was suggested the
memorial be restored by long term resident Denis Cockerham and has been
paid for by the Playing Fields committee, which raised £400 to replace
it.
A short service was held as the new plaque was put inplace by Rector,
Rev John Hetherington and attended by villagers and the local Air Training
Corps.
Memorials for those from the village who gave their lives during the Great
War 1914 -1918 are located at the church and at the entrance to the village
close to the
British Legion club, dedicated to Capt. Frank Bryan Parker of the 5th
Yorkshire Regiment.
